Ian Reight, MD, is a Mount Vernon, Maine, surgeon who practices critical care at the Maine General Medical Center and has past experience as a robotic surgery lead and chairman of the department of surgery. Also chairing the robotic steering committee, he directed hyperbarics and wound care, and was responsible for surgical quality. Since 2014, Dr. Ian Reight has also held responsibilities with Intuitive Surgical in Northern California, where he serves as a proctor for robotic surgery. His focus there is instructing general surgeons in the use of surgical robots.

From 2014 to 2017, Dr. Reight additionally held a medical director position with Auburn Fire and Rescue, where he coordinated the efforts of paramedic team members. A graduate of the Medical University of the Americas, he also earned a psychology degree at the University of Maryland at College Park.

Dr. Reight’s professional experience extends back to the early 1990s and a position with Dimensions Health Corporation in Washington, DC, as a wound care specialist and trauma technician. He sutured and monitored ER and trauma patients and provided emergency ophthalmology care. In his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, and practicing bushcraft.
